Call Numbers: Main

This is only a general guide to the classification used in NUS Libraries. Books may also be under other class numbers depending on the major focus.

NUS Libraries uses the Library of Congress Classification System to classify items in the collection to Call Numbers.

What follows is a general guide to how items are classified. So for example many Economics books are classed under HB etc.

You can also search the catalogue for items of interest and take note of the call number. Most items similar in scope will be placed in the same or nearby call numbers.

For books, call numbers are usually pasted on the spine or the front cover.

The book above has a call number of Z674.75 Int.Us 2007. In most locations, items including books are shelved by Call number.

Note: To find the location of a book, you need to know both the call number and the location of the item(e.g CL Books)
