Japanese Studies: Google Scholar & Proxy Bookmarklet

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is often used as a good TOOL to find scholarly references for assignments.

But what do you do when you want to see the full text of a an article and it requires you to pay?

Use the NUS Libraries Proxy Bookmarklet!

Why must I use the proxy bookmarklet?

When you are NOT using the NUS Libraries portal to search, the publisher's website is unable to identify you as a student/staff from NUS.

The proxy bookmarklet is an easy way to alert the publisher that you are from NUS and, if NUS Libraries has access to the article, you should be allowed to access it at no charge.

How to use the Proxy Bookmarklet

The proxy bookmarklet allows you to directly access full text of E-resources via the subscription of NUS.  The video below shows how to install and use proxy bookmarklet to access full text of a reference obtained from a Google Scholar  search.
