Location code: two components
The location code assigned to an item is essentially made up of two components namely:
- library (CL)
- collection (Books)
In the above example, the required book is therefore kept in the Central Library Books collection (also commonly known as "open shelves"). Materials kept in this location can be borrowed out for a period of 14 days for undergraduates, 28 days for staff and graduate students, etc. Refer to our help page on Loan entitlement of Library members for details on loan periods for different membership categories as well as material formats .
Note that the call number for the above book is "HC497.12 Dyn 2011" and that its current status is "Due 20-05-11...." This means that the book is currently out on loan and is due to be returned to the Library on 20 May 2011. The phrase "... +1 HOLD" simply means that one reservation or hold has been placed on the book.
