This tutorial is specifically tailored for all Year 2 Biological Sciences students.

You will find that the essential literature & research skills learnt during the tutorial will be directly applicable to the essay and report writing assignments. Furthermore, these skills will surely accompany you throughout your undergraduate career. Don't hesitate and sign up now!

Prior to the workshop, please sign up for a Mendeley account and bring along your laptop with Mendeley Desktop installed. For instructions on registration and installation, refer to libguides.nus.edu.sg/mendeley/installation.

  • Articles/Databases - major databases for finding articles across different disciplines within the life sciences
  • Books - search for books on your topic, and connect with major reference works like encyclopedias, handbooks and dictionaries
  • Taxonomic Guides - sources to help locate taxonomic/scientific names as well as citations to publications which describe, identify, classify, or name organisms
  • Methods & Protocols - online resources for finding laboratory protocols and best practice, usually link to peer-reviewed articles
