Mendeley also has a social network function. It allows you to create your own Research Profile which allows other researchers to search and connect with you.
First head to Mendeley's website and login using your Mendeley account.
Next, click on My Account drop down box and click on Edit My Profile
You can then start editing your profile.
To increase the profile of your own research and to increase the number of readership and possible citations count, you can add your publication/s in Mendeley which will then allow other Mendeley users to search for and even read your publication/s.
To do this, fire up Mendeley Desktop and click on the My Publications option on the left. Next, just drag and drop the PDF/s of your publication/s and check to see if the citation information is correct. Once you have done that, your publication/s are now in the Mendeley Repository and it can be downloaded by other users. Adding your own publication also means that your Mendeley Profile will automatically be updated with the list of your own publications.
If you do not have the PDF or due to copyright reason, you are unable to share the PDF of your work you can still add the citation information. Just right click and select Add Entry Manually and key in the relevant citation information.
