Singaporean Composers Collection: KAM Kee Yong

Kam Kee Yong (b. 1938, Penang) was trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London England, where he was made an Associate with honours in 1987 in both violin performance and composition. Kam’s keen interest in exploring the expression of both visual and aural colour has established him not only as a professional musician, but also a visual artist, with several solo exhibitions of his paintings. His music has been described as “a breath of fresh air”, often combining Eastern musical gestures with Western instrumentation.

Kam's daughter, Kam Ning, is a renowned violinist who frequently performs her father's compositions.
