Keeping Current: News Alerts

News Alerts

RSS readers or feed aggregators allows you to stay in the know by retrieving latest content from publishers and other websites that you frequently source for information. There are many aggregators available, some free while others need a paid subscription.

Setting Up News Alerts (RSS Feeds)

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a standard format used to distribute frequently updated news and other content appearing on a website. Via RSS, content comes to you; you do not have to repeatedly visit the same webpages to look for updates.

To read RSS feeds, an RSS feed reader or aggregator is required. Apart from RSS feed applications, web browsers like Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari have built-in RSS aggregators.

Try adding research-related websites such as professional organisations, publishers, newspapers, libraries and relevant blogs that provide RSS feed to their content to your news aggregator.
