Set Up 'Cite While Your Write' function

Once you complete the EN installation, double-click on the Endnote icon to open the application. You can choose to create a brand new library, or open an existing one if you are upgrading from an earlier version.

If you are installing Endnote for the very first time on your Mac, you need to open a blank MS Word document and locate the Endnote tool menu from "Tools". Alternatively, choose to have the Endnote toolbar shown in Word menu: go to View > Toolbars >Endnote

If you have a MacBook Pro with the silicon chip (M1), you need to enable Rosetta to grant permissions for both applications (EN21 and MSWord) to integrate. See here

EndNote tab in MS Word Ribbon

When the installation is complete, endnote tab should appear in MS Word ribbon:

If you are unable to see the EndNote tab in the MS Word Ribbon, please ensure that you have downloaded the MSWord application onto your laptop/desktop. The MS Word 365 (web version) does not integrate with Endnote software.

Mac users may not have the "MSWord 2016 bundle" after installation of Endnote due to a bug in the installation setup.

To correct this, please open Endnote21:

1. Go to the Endnote21 menu, choose 'Customizer'

2. If the CWYW is checked, uncheck it and follow the instructions

3. Then repeat step 1, this time, check the CWYW and click on 'Next' until it is completed

4. Open your MS Word application and start a new document. You should see the Endnote21 tab in the ribbon after these steps.
