How do I find theses?: Home

Shows you how to locate & obtain a thesis in NUS Libraries.

About this guide

This guide helps you to locate both NUS and non-NUS academic exercises, theses and dissertations both in print and electronic formats.

  • Academic exercises submitted to NUS Libraries are available in print only. However, from 2018 onwards, undergraduate theses will be available via our institutional repository ScholarBank@NUS:
  • Only selected NUS theses and academic exercises received from the academic departments are kept in the NUS Libraries.
  • Older NUS masters & PhD thesis are in print as well, but those submitted after September 2003 are accessible via our institutional repository, ScholarBank@NUS

Can't find a thesis?

How can I get a thesis which is not available in the Library?

If a thesis is not held in NUS Libraries, you can recommend the Library to acquire a copy. Do note that recommendation to acquire theses will be assessed based on the library collection development guidelines. Depending on availability of the thesis, rush orders can take up to 6 weeks or more. The request forms to use for inter-library loan are accessible via the Library portal as follows:.

1. If you are already logged into the portal, the form should already be listed under My Services (or click on More) if you are eligible for service.

2. Otherwise, go to the NUS Libraries Portal > go to the right panel under "Quick Links"  > select "More Services and E-Forms for...":

3. At the SERVICES FOR page, under Recommendation to Purchase New Materials , select Recommend Books.  If you don't see any E-forms, please email us the title, author and year of the thesis.

4.Complete the e-form. Indicate that the required item is a thesis under the "Other information" field

5. When the request is fulfilled, you will be informed via email that the item you requested is available.
