Biography

Emily Koh is a young composer of contemporary classical music. A recipient of numerous awards, grants and scholarships from various institutions and organizations, Emily’s music has seen performances by ensembles such as SIGNAL Ensemble (USA), ThingNY (USA), Asian Festival Ensemble (S. Korea), The Philharmonic Orchestra (Singapore), Next Mushroom Project (Japan), Arts Sphere Chamber Ensemble (Singapore), Singapore Lyric Opera (Singapore), NUS Symphony Orchestra (Singapore), and the Conservatory New Music Ensemble amongst others, and have been heard at various venues in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

[circum]-perceptio for clarinet, violin, cello, marimba and piano (2010)
[circum]-perceptio was conceived based on the idea of a complete, cross-, inter- and multi-dimensional perspective of a single object cell suspended in an undisturbed space-time continuum. Beneath the complexity of the philosophical, physical and psychological arguments that arise from the above statement, the aim of [circum]-perceptio is simply for the audience to form their own perception of the original single object cell – a personal path to self-discovery.
