In Annicha, Edwards employs the use o f gestural objects explored via repetition as w ell as the maintenance or thwarting of the various parameters - order o f entry, pitch collection, dynamic shape, register - that form that gesture. Annicha explores this as well as the order o f entry applied to the five objects that exist in the work.
In addition, objects are reexamined to such a point that the distinction between certain objects is blurred and the definition of the object itself is frequently questioned. These two elements - order of object entries and blurring of two objects’ distinct characteristics - work in cooperation to create a rich, engaging listening experience in which memory or one’s perception of an object being recall is challenged.

Puer Natus est Nobis is the Introit chant for the Christmas Day Mass. Although this work is not religiously inspired or influenced by the text of the chant, the melody of the chant forms the basis of the composition. Edwards looked at each note of the melody and sometimes a group of notes when the original chant notation suggested an important grouping of pitches and imagined it as an object. He imagined each object as being perceived from a great distance, like a star, which in reality is a massive force of energy, and in composing with these distant objects was to pull them closer to the listener so that one can observe their interiors. His musical objects, though not portraying the human condition, create identities and portraying them in new, unexpected ways. He imagines them as models for interacting with others in the real world, a model that would move us toward a society with a greater respect for human dignity, human possibility, and understanding.
