Discover content in ScholarBank@NUS

Click on "Discover ScholarBank@NUS" to expand on the Browse options.

You can browse content in the institutional repository by: Communities, Dates or Types

 

Start searching on ScholarBank@NUS by using either the search box on the main page, or the search icon available at the top of the page.

 

A search in the repository will search against all indexed metadata and full-text.

The types of search operators supported by the repository are:

  • Boolean Operators: AND, OR, NOT
  • Phrase Search: Use quotation marks (" ") to search for an exact phrase e.g. therap* searches for therapy, therapist, therapeutic etc.
  • Wildcard Search: Use an asterisk (*) after a word stem to get all variations of words starting with the root word

Special characters: Some characters have special meaning in searches such as colon (:), asterisk (*) and Boolean operators. Use phrase search to include the searching of special character e.g. "test:power"

Specific Search

  • Dublin Core (DC) Metadata Schema is used to describe the content in ScholarBank@NUS
  • Search within specific fields by including the DC search field in your statement
  • Example: To search for the text Singapore in the title field (dc.title), type in dc.title:Singapore
  • Here is a list of commonly used fields in searching:

Filters: Refine your search using filters available on the side panel such as by Author, DateHas filesPublication Types etc.

Sort by: Most Relevant, Title Ascending, Date Issued Descending, Accessioned Date Descending

There are 3 types of access settings in ScholarBank@NUS:

  • Open (Metadata and full-text content are visible and accessible publicly)
  • Restricted (Full-text content are accessible only by NUS staff and students while the metadata is accessible publicly)
  • Closed (Only the metadata record is accessible publicly)

Open

The file on an open access record is available for public view. You can click on the file(s) available to access the full text content.

Restricted

Restricted content is only viewable by NUS staff and students. To view restricted files, log in to ScholarBank@NUS using your NUS-ID and password.

Before login, you will not be able to see any files in the record.

 

After login, the files will be made available for you to view and download.

Closed

Closed files are not accessible to anyone. This is indicated by the padlock icon on the file.
